Actually, I did a lot of this sketch in Blender, simply because even with their recent changes, After Effects is just not that good at 3D. I keyed out the actors in AE, exported videos with transparency, and then placed 2D planes in a 3D space with animated textures. Janky? Maybe, but it works!

I had a pretty clearly defined vision for how this sketch would look before we started filming it and I'm proud of how well I was able to see it through. I had never even opened Blender before I started work on this, but now I can at least say I know how to make intentionally bad animations.
