Today, at IBEW Local 269 in Lawrenceville, we took major steps to lower energy costs for every household. By rapidly bringing new sources of energy online through community solar and building new energy storage, we will meet growing demand while also lowering electric bills.

With this evening’s high tide, there is the potential for major flooding along the Shore. We are urging residents to move vehicles from flood prone streets and lots. Back bay communities and barrier islands should prepare for water swells and slower drainage.

⚠️ I have declared a State of Emergency effective at 2:00 p.m. in preparation for Hurricane Erin. We are expecting coastal and flash flooding, along with high surf and rip currents. Please monitor weather forecasts and stay informed on evacuation protocols, especially if you’re down the Shore.

⚠️ Hurricane Erin Update ⚠️ We are expecting to see the worst of the storm today into tomorrow as it moves past New Jersey with high surf and rip currents. Coastal flooding warnings are in effect from Monmouth to Cape May Counties.

Dangerous surf conditions are expected to continue through Thursday, particularly at beaches in Monmouth, Ocean, Atlantic, and Cape May Counties. As Hurricane Erin passes by the Shore, we urge everyone to avoid swimming and wading in the ocean.

The impacts of Hurricane Erin will be felt across the Jersey Shore over the next several days, generating dangerous rip currents and high waves. As conditions worsen, we urge residents and visitors to avoid wading and swimming in the ocean, especially when lifeguards are off duty.
