We're mourning the loss of TN Rep. G.A. Hardaway, who served Memphis's 93rd District for over a decade. He fought for public comment and voting rights, and fairer forfeiture laws. Those priorities were ours too. His record is proof that principled service leaves a legacy. Rest well, Rep. Hardaway.

HB687/SB336, which eases voter restoration eligibility criteria related to court costs & child support payments, is a law! The bill by Sen. Akbari & Rep. Camper, & advocated on by the Free Hearts team, is a major step in addressing the barriers preventing those with felony convictions from voting.

The fine print on TN's school voucher app? Parents must sign away their child's right to special ed support. Most voucher-participating schools have NO licensed special ed staff. The program that claims to expand families' "choice" is removing protections for some of TN's most vulnerable children.

There's still time to save Tony's life. Add your name to the petition to tell Tennessee to test all the forensic evidence before they execute a potentially innocent man.

"Tony Carruthers’ case is a perfect storm of capital punishment’s familiar failures: paid informants, information withheld from the jury, untested physical evidence." If he is put to death, it would be a serious miscarriage of justice.
