This is the bigger picture view: it’s not just that Solar makes fossil fuels less relevant and less profitable; it’s that it makes much modern warfare less relevant and less profitable

Decades ago "No blood for oil" was a good, ethical stance, but those working against it had a fig leaf claim that there was no alternative. That is absolutely not the case today. We have the technology to massively drop our fossil fuel use and save money while doing so. No one should die for oil.

Who wants to go halfsies on building our own city. 100% solar PV and battery power, maybe some wind turbines. Totally walkable city. No cars just cargo bikes and public transit. Mixed zoning w/little neighborhood shops on every corner. Every house is cute AF and mid-high density

We have started our seasonal tug-of-war with the gas company. My spouse tried to contact them on 3/23/26 & could not get through. She did connect on 3/25/26. They said the meter was read on 3/24/26 & gas would be turned off on 3/26. It's now 3/30/26 & its not turned off yet.

Got our first EV in 2014 and have had only EVs since 2019. I understand - it's a privilege to have a place to charge them. But we wanted to move as far from FF as possible. Solar + EV (plus mostly working from home) has allowed us to do this.

A great way to remove dependence on foreign energy and the war and suffering that goes with it is to invest in renewables and storage. We should have been doing this for decades. Elect leaders who support clean energy and economic security for all, not fossil fuel interests.

The Energy war is going to weaken global dependence on fossil fuels. Iran is demanding payment for oil in Yuan, not dollars. Key oil infrastructure is being destroyed. Volatility will drive away FF demand and countries with access to Chinese renewable technology will increase deployment.

And no, it isn't "because the batteries are wearing out". EV batteries have come a long way since that was a concern & most are covered under amazing warranties anyway. We bought ours used- it's still under warranty & we absolutely love it! Charging it is so much cheaper than gas ever was too.
