Today is a very special day - @HistoricEngland launched a Blue Plaque to honour the Rev. Wilbert Awdry at his house on Rodborough Avenue - the creator of Thomas the Tank Engine. We bought his original Ffarquhar Branch back to Stroud for the first time in 30 years to celebrate!

To celebrate, a special Anniversary Gala will be held on the 15th, 16th & 17th May 2026, featuring some of the TR's "Best Hits" from across all 75 years of volunteer operation - including celebrating 50 years since the line was extended to Nant Gwernol!

75 Years Ago TODAY the Talyllyn Railway Preservation Society was formed. Following this, on the 14th May 1951 the TRPS ran their first train kick starting the global railway preservation movement as the World’s First Preserved Railway.
