All disabilities involve developing other skills to work around it... Before we had sign language for the deaf, it was thought being deaf involved basically intellectual disability. But all it really was, they just needed a coherent way to communicate.

I definitely have a reaction TO expected gender roles, but just like my reaction to gendered clothing, this reaction does not mean I don't instinctively see myself as a man. Gender roles are societal, and may simply HIGHLIGHT already existing dysphoria more than otherwise.

I pray we can help build a kinder world for queer ppl. We are all made in the image of God, every one of us. We posesses inherent worth and dignity. But change starts with our inner world - peace starts in the heart. In our actions.

When it comes to a need to improve systems or change the way they are understood, the ability to reverse engineer concepts (my strength) is useful. But there is not necessarily a need to do this constantly. Especially when I can get trapped in OCD patterns over it.

The need for autistic and ADHD individuals to develop extra strategies that other people do not need to develop for functioning, is evidence itself of disability. For some, these strategies may be enough to live independently. Not so for all autistic and ADHD people.

God is teaching me that just because two concepts don't seem connected at the surface level doesn't mean they are not. Our faith is truly built on logic and reason.

Also has a lot to do with I'm just extremely prone to taking things to extremes. Including the process of intellialization. It leads to OCD patterns that I then get trapped in.

I feel like an overly intellectual approach to stuff is a trap to avoid falling into, but alsooo... it is useful. It is very helpful in gaining new understandings. But doing this constantly about everything in my life is tiring.... haha. I probably need to dial it back.

I see why someone would have trouble reconciling that autistic people w/ high intelligence and ability to comprehend very complex concepts co-exists w/ autistic people with intellectual disability. Thing is.... ability towards complex reason doesn't mean you're able to function.

I need my principles rooted in Catholic teaching, bc if I rely on my own abilities of logic and reason, see myself as the one who decides what is objective reality, I am not open to correction or a better understanding. If I see God as the authority, then I am open to correction.

My autistic interest as a kid was dogs! Extremely obsessed for the entire first 16 years of my life. I was considered almost an expert on dogs among my friends and family because I memorized all the things.

My mode of thought is... Instead of starting with basics and digging deeper, I start at a detailed point and dig to the surface from the ground up. It's a very autistic thought process.

I need to start storing my thought processes somewhere.... mainly because these are very deep thoughts coming from a place of internal monologue (or, often, contemplative prayer), and I want to have a collection of these things so that I can return to them and build on them more later.

There's definitely wisdom in that we are more than our diagnoses. As a human being, I am far more complex and nuanced than any box you could possibly create. Psychiatric, medical, religious, gender... None of it is my entire person. But we need labels for functional purposes.
