🇺🇸 throwing Ukraine under the bus. This shows how pointless 🇪🇺’s bootlicking of Trump was. West should have supported Ukraine more decisively (also Biden & Scholz to blame here). Europe still can and must, its security is on the line, too. But this will have a steep price now (at least economically).

In DLF interview this morning, Jürgen Haardt, CDU spokesman for foreign pol, claims the US nuclear umbrella for Europe won’t be touched by Trump, because Congress would be opposed. In light of 0 assertiveness by Congress re Trump’s foreign pol so far, that’s pretty optimistic (or wishful thinking).

Can’t wait to hear from Neorealists (Mearsheimer in particular) how US siding with Russia is proof of balance of power politics, relative gains and so forth. 🤡
