Moonset.

Unexpected!! A quiet walk was interrupted by this White-tailed Eagle coming in off the sea at Wild Ken Hill; only to be greeted by some unhappy buzzards and Red Kites!

This steaming delight was produced by an Exmoor Pony at Wild Ken Hill and was already claimed by dung beetles and Field Digger-wasps. The digger-wasps were there to feast on the various beetles and flies attracted to the newly-laid banquet. Who doesn’t love a good shit?

A Clouded Yellow day - multiple individuals across four different parts of the Wild Ken Hill rewilding area today. Fab.

Wonderful end to the day - standing on a bridge at Sculthorpe Mill, looking down on a Water Vole in the Wensum, when an electric blue Kingfisher shot just 12 inches under my feet. Magic.

In the area, so decided to spend a couple of hours wandering in Great Yarmouth. Genuinely one of the most depressing places I’ve ever been. Very sad to see.

Male Common Carder Bee clinging on to a windswept self-sown sunflower in the garden today. Amazing to think that in a few weeks’ time, male bees and queens of this species will all be dead, leaving only a few newly-matured queens who are able to overwinter and begin the cycle all over again.
