One thing I've taken to doing when solidifying a new character design is testing their range of expressiveness by making them make some goofy faces🤪 Helps me make sure they don't look too outlandish when doing a funny face and figure out how I want that character to emote

Here's a somewhat recent color experiment from a few months ago where I designed Xīngliú's armor and gave her axe a redesign as well. This was fun and I'm very proud of it! Her armor is supposed to look like an "upgraded" version of the basic armor that Xīngluò and Hánméi wear.

Reposting this favorite of mine to reflect a recent slight change in Hánméi's face where I've removed her defined upper lip. It was causing her face to look very weird from the side 🤷‍♂️

Forgot to mention, I felt inspired to finally put this goat character on paper because a certain other goat character who I like a lot and who inspired my goat character recently released for a certain game… Ranch’s riddle…

Been spending some time designing a couple new critters recently. The goat character on the left is currently unnamed. The character on the right is named Aòsēn (奥森) and the fiery creature with her is named Guǐyàn (鬼焰) Names and designs aren’t final, but I like them a lot!

Here's a drawing from a few months ago that I'm still extremely proud of! This drawing marks the point when I started to find my footing with simple coloring and conveying visual information about materials, and it was also the first set of armor I designed for my critters.

Fun expressions done at different times for different purposes. Rabbit's name is now "Xīngluò" (星落) and he's received a small change to his ears to better communicate his star element Fox's name is now "Xīngliú" (星流) and I just wanted to practice drawing her unique jaw

I did a render test on the bird, featuring the Brawl portrait gradient because I thought it'd be funny. This marks one of the few times I've done a lineless style.

Couldn't decide if I wanted a Pilebunker or a Buster Wolf or a Tyrant Lancer so I mashed them all together. I've been trying to figure out what I want this attack to look like for a while now and I think I'm pretty happy with this result!
