Haven’t been here in a while but seems like a good time to say hello again! Not great at introduction posts, so here’s my two book sisters instead (Arthurian retelling trilogy from POV of Morgan le Fay) Would love to connect with book and writing communities, especially from the other place!

Here I go again, my eternal folly: attempting to fashion a coherent story timeline with the ‘help’ of Arthurian source texts

Today, I am spending my leisure time reading Arthurian source texts JUST FOR THE FUN OF IT. Because this is who I am and have always been ⚔️

Just managed to use the word ‘parlance’ in a scene and now I’m extremely pleased with myself

Did a quick bookshop pilgrimage and spotted Morgan resplendent in the window of Waterstones Cardiff. Day made! 💙📚

My favourite incidental Arthurian gem so far from today’s reading: when Gawain gets the chance to look at the Holy Grail, but is instead distracted by the beautiful woman carrying it. Just perfection 😂

Turns out this strange, sad and restless mood could be easily cured by just letting myself sit down and write without worrying if the words were perfect or even right. Of course it helps that it was writing Sir Kay, because it always does. He even agrees👇😂 #amwriting

My main take from today’s research is to happily be reminded of how much Gawain loves apples 🍎 (filing this under ‘delightful but irrelevant to this particular book I’m meant to be writing’)

Back to real work today (writing books) and having one of those moments where I can’t believe I get to spend weeks re-reading Arthurian source texts AS MY DAY JOB. Truly the dream 🥹

Today is the day I get to say this and I can’t believe it: I wrote a second book and lived (just)

OK well merging two tracked changes docs in Word and hoping they didn’t destroy one another like Arthur and Mordred was a stressful experience. My own personal Camlann 🥴

You wouldn’t think this would be possible at the very end of writing Book 2, but I cannot WAIT to start writing Morgan Book 3. One of my all time Arthurian faves turns up and it’s going to be SO MUCH FUN 🙌⚔️🔥

I’ve been editing solidly since 8am and though I’m loving this book (which is nice after weeks of hating it), I cannot claim to feel normal right now 🫠

Re-reading Book 2 for this close edit and there's some wild stuff in here, fair play. Really leaning into the kind of extreme drama and straight-up weirdness Arthurian myth can throw at its characters and I'm loving it

Editing and thinking how the Arthurian characters I write/plan to write that so often end up being my favourites are the ones no one’s ever heard of Rarely seen Sir M of G giving me LIFE in this book, such an uptight idiot and totally hilarious to me. Love this work 🙌
