In the final throws of holiday market prep and I once again am struggling to release these pieces from my greedy claws. I hate repainting the same thing twice so once it’s gone I probably won’t paint it again ✨

Testing out these old wooden press molds that belonged to my Papa. He used them for beeswax, so I’m excited to see what I can make with ceramics

When I was 11 I taught myself how to make beaded lizards. This had kids from every grade coming to demand their own. Without a thanks I worked myself to the bone and it hurt my giving heart so I stopped making them. Decades later I’m here finally making my own and learning to open my heart again.

I had my nails filed to points today and the nail tech said he thought they looked scary… Whilst maintaining eye contact through lowered lashes I murmured, “perfect.”

Holding my 20yr old paintbrush and thinking about the Japanese folklore of tsukumogami - Where after 100 years of use, a tool gains a Kami or spirit. You’re almost a quarter of the way there little buddy ✨

Fun fact: I named my kiln Prometheus, after the mighty titan and god of fire who felt a tenderness towards the plight of mortals, defied the gods of Olympus, and brought fire to humanity. Some say he is the one responsible for our creation, sculpting us from clay. I have a soft spot for him ✨
