Today was typewriter stories day in my ENGL101 classes, so I rolled 19 typewriters out into the student lounge, and students wrote round-robin stories on machines ranging from the 1940s-1980s. What a racket! They had a blast. ENGL102 will have their turn in a couple of weeks.

This week I am posting just one photo for Friday Faces. A new portrait taken on my first trip to Derby. This side street, more of an alleyway really, had lots of potential with the flat light. The walls on both sides are textured, weathered, battered and scraped from years of retail deliveries.

I’m late to the Oppenheimer party — Dull. 3 hours of short clips pasted together with bland music over the top. Kind of a 3 hour trailer. Gave up with 30 minutes to go.
