Having been a student in Liverpool at the time of the Hillsborough disaster, I am just as horrified now as I was then. My absolute solidarity is with the families of the 97 fans who lost their lives. The #HillsboroughLaw is landmark legislation to ensure truth, candour and justice after tragedy.

It was great to visit North Middlesex University Hospital today & meet the amazing staff working hard to care for patients. Good to see the Evan Nathan Smith unit up & running, visit the wonderful maternity unit, & learn about vital research into improving black health outcomes.

Great to visit the @cancerresearchuk.org Palmers Green shop to meet James & Gail, who work hard to support our community & Cancer Research UK's amazing work. Shops like this one delivered a total contribution of £28m in 2023/24 to fund lifesaving research. Proud to support local charity shops!

Today marks 20 years since the horrific 7/7 bombings. We honour the memory of the 52 people who were killed that day, and remember all those who were injured. I pay tribute to the emergency services and first responders on shift that day. We will not forget their bravery ❤️

Today, I attended an event hosted by @inquest-org.bsky.social supporting a National Oversight Mechanism. I am proud to support this campaign, which would introduce a new, independent body to monitor post death investigations, inquiries and inquests. We must prevent future state related deaths.

It was an honour to open the exhibition at the Bruce Castle Museum and Archive which celebrates the life, work and achievements of Joyce Butler yesterday. A pioneering figure in British politics and a tireless advocate for social justice, she is remembered as 'The National Woman's MP.'
