It’s really a race to the bottom when it comes to politics, isn’t it? Aren’t we all tired? Aren’t you tired?

I got so much done today!!! Got involved with my community, did some gardening, and the kids and I got some outdoor play time! Phew! Time for everyone to take a rest.

So weird, but really fun too! Zombie squirrels are a thing and they’re on a mission to find their old coffee shop manager who may have died.

A short essay/memory about the strange morality of the medical horror stories one hears when chronically ill and the roaring void of chaos hiding underneath them.

Okay, but where does my love of Connor from Detroit Become Human fit in the conversation about AI? Because robots having feelings is a trope I adore, but I hate all this LLM stuff.

I played the OffBeat demo last night and it was so fun! It felt like I was really learning how to make electronic music (and in a sense, I was). It took me back to the days of fiddling in GarageBand with no clue what I was doing.

Went to the doctor and they believed my pain, told me the likely, common cause, and then gave me several solutions to the problem. I love the doctors I have now!!!

My CGM: “Oh, tragic news! Your blood sugar is low! Surely your end draws near!” Me, after pricking my finger: “It’s 113.” CGM: “Well, the end will still come, maybe another day though…”

I keep opening random apps on my phone to avoid changing my diabetes gear. I gotta just suck it up and do it… See ya on the flip side.

I like to think of my body like a car I drive. Yes, she’s pretty messed up and you gotta kick the wheel to get it to work, but I don’t want anyone but me driving her.

Drowning Doesn't Look Like Drowning
Drowning is not the violent, splashing, call for help that most people expect. In this article, Mario explains what drowning really looks like and how to recognize it when its happening.

Like a sleeping dragon, my urge to be a children’s librarian has awoken. I need to start recommending books or I’ll go insane and make a blog or something.

The world would be better if we could all be kids again reading books about dragons. Going to our local libraries to read those Dragonology books and learning to draw dragons… We should all get weird about things we love again.

I also remembered that I put the quote “What a terrible thing it is to be an educated beast” on my college graduation cap and totally forgot that is was from the book This Immortal by Roger Zelazny. My life is just rediscovering old preferences.

The first time I read Joyas Voladoras, the author, Brian Doyle, was still alive. Every year or so, I remember his work. Do you think he knows now how this one essay wedged the window of my heart open?

If all the people who “don’t belong here” left Maine, all the former Massachusetts people would go back to their home state. Maine is a way of life. Can you respect the land and your neighbors? Can you brave the winters? Do you want peace? You’re a Mainer.

I’ve been reading Sophocles and ohhhh my gosh Ajax and Electra? How did I miss these in college? Anyone have any hot takes about these works? My hot take: I can’t help but feel bad for Electra’s mom… her husband killed her daughter for the gods! She betrayed him and the gods for that. I get it.

AITA for telling my mother in law to stop calling my kids piggies? She says she’s just saying they ate well, but I don’t want them being called piggies.

Cardinal McElroy: Why the Catholic Church can and should judge the morality of the Iran war
The exclusion of the church from any substantive role in evaluating the moral legitimacy of decisions to go to war is a pathway to amoral decisions on war, not moral ones.

All this hubbub makes me think that 8647 should go in the same list as 6489. Are we going to do that and make numbers illegal?

Susan Collins says she’s done so much for Type 1 Diabetics and cancer patients? Really, why has it been such a nightmare still then? Why does my gear cost so much? Get all the political posturing away from me.

Virginia Senator Mark Warner’s daughter has died after complications related to type 1 diabetes, which she battled for decades. 💔 Diabetes is cruel and we need a cure. No parent should have to bury their child. My thoughts are with Senator Warner & his family.

Pretty good collection of stories. I found the first one kinda sweet to be honest, same with Bus Stop. There are some solid spooks though. I can’t help but love his art style.

If I get one more Botox or Ozempic ad on my Pinterest, I’m gonna lose it. They show a woman raising her eyebrows and finding perfectly normal facial muscles there and they’re like “This is unnatural and unacceptable”. I’m sorry what? She’s emoting. She has a normal body. What???
