A new survey found that biking is down -- way down -- among kids 7-17 over the last 30 years. "By adding more bike-friendly infrastructure—lower traffic speeds, separated bike lanes, calmer intersections—local governments could encourage children and other residents to start riding again. " Yup.

don't know if you've already seen but lufthansa is now showing/selling flights with partners directly (United, Air Canada). Very helpful on days when the Frankfurt flight is not operating!

A new scientific paper suggests that living near golf courses raises the risk of Parkinson's disease in older people. Obviously, we need to close the golf courses for the health of older people, and build lots of homes on them for the young people.

One thing Democratic leadership could do right now is to name an alternate HHS secretary--someone to provide ongoing public updates and health information. And do it for other departments too. Start showing voters what a Democratic government would look like--press conferences, speeches, all of it.

The best way to fight back against Musk: Don’t buy a Tesla. (And if you own one, sell it.) The company was already in a precarious position before Musk launched his assault on democracy. A Tesla boycott would be devastating – and richly deserved. Me, in Slate 🧵

Like smoking a cigarette, driving a giant SUV/pickup endangers anyone nearby. The narrative power of secondhand smoke galvanized the anti-tobacco movement in the 1980s – and it could do the same for car bloat today. My deep dive, in Vox 🧵
