Final: No. 4 Duke 70, Pitt 54 The Panthers were within single digits until the final 10 minutes, but eventually the Blue Devils pulled away. Pitt got 19 points from Roman Siulepa and 17 from Barry Dunning Jr. in the loss.

Final media timeout and Pitt is down 67-50. This one got away - awhile ago - but the Panthers kept it closer than probably any of us expected. 2:48 left to play.

Under-8 timeout and Pitt trails No. 4 Duke 50-40. The Blue Devils have a 10-point lead but the Panthers are not making it easy for the visitors. Duke has committed 7 turnovers in the first 12:13 of the second half, but the Panthers are shooting 5/13 in the half.

What if they ruin the turf ahead of the Steelers’ commencement ceremony the following day?

Under-12 timeout and Pitt is down 47-38. The Panthers were down 11 but have continued battling to keep the deficit to single digits. Barry Dunning Jr. has 13 points and Roman Siulepa has 12. Duke's Cameron Boozer has scored 11.

First media timeout of the second half and Pitt trails No. 4 Duke 40-34. The Panthers were down 11 a few minutes ago but a Cam Corhen paint bucket and a Roman Siulepa three - his fourth of the game - cut the lead to 6.

Pitt is 1-13 this season when trailing by double digits in a game. That three from Cameron Boozer put No. 4 Duke ahead 40-29.

Of course, one byproduct of this is that Duke has a 24-6 advantage on points in the paint.

Stat comparison: Pitt attempted 8 shots inside the arc in the first half. Duke attempted 18. Pitt was 4/8 from two; Duke was 13/18.

Halftime: Duke 35, Pitt 29 The Panthers battled Duke more than I expected them to, but they only made 3 field goals in the final 8 minutes or else they might have really put the Blue Devils on their heels. Barry Dunning Jr. has game highs of 13 points & 5 rebounds.

Final media timeout of the first half and Pitt trails No. 4 Duke 25-23. One crucial element is that Duke superstar Cameron Boozer, who averages 23.3 ppg, has scored 6 so far and has only attempted 5 shots. Solid defense against him so far.

Under-8 timeout and Pitt is trailing No. 4 Duke 21-20. The Panthers are hanging in this one with 8/17 shooting and 6 assists on those 8 made baskets. Only 3 fouls called so far in this game, which is nice.

Second media timeout and Pitt-Duke is all tied up at 15-15. The Panthers led 12-6 but went more than 4 minutes without a field goal before Roman Siulepa drained his third three of the game. Siulepa has a game-high 9 points so far.

This must be a big game: they've got the Pitt volleyball players throwing in the t-shirt toss.

First media timeout and Pitt is up on No. 4 Duke 12-11. The Panthers hit 5 of their first 6 shots and led 12-6, but they have missed their last couple and the Blue Devils have cut that lead to 1.

After 2:52 of this game, Pitt is up 9-4 and Duke calls a timeout. The Panthers have shot 4/5 so far with an assist on every made basket.

Pitt has opened the second half shooting 0/3 and has made 1 of its last 12 shots dating back to the end of the first half. Panthers trail 41-32 two minutes into the second half, leading to a rare Jeff Capel timeout.

SMU opened the first half shooting 2/13. Pitt only turned that cold start into a 5-point lead. Missed opportunity there. Conversely, the Panthers closed the first half shooting 1/9 and trail by just 2 at halftime.
