(1982), a show set to mock cop procedurals the same way Airplane! (1980 )mocked disaster movies. The show starred Leslie Nielsen, Alan North and Peter Lupus an it´s main inspiration were cop shows from the 50s and 60s like "Felony Squad" and in particular Lee Marvin´s M Squad (1957-1960). The pilot episode for "Police Squad!", "A substancial Gift", is an almost scene-for-scene remake of the opening episode of the second season of "M Squad": "More Deadly". One is a parody, the other one is dead serious.
