I was wondering if he genuinely doesn't because he avoided Frohickys tea in a previous season and I vaguely remember him enjoying some food

I say this as a fan of the show not as a freelance writer working on it, but the “drought” between releases is actually full of conversation and speculation and giddy excitement for set images and teasers and trailers, and I don’t know why anyone would rob themselves of that.

Credits to the person who pointed this out first, I think it's really interesting how Arin and Sora's spinjitzu colors parallel to Wu and Aspheera. It basically resembles their "enemies" relationship. It was right in front of us this whole time
