The Montgomery County Council commemorated Breast Cancer Awareness Month alongside local advocates and survivors. Breast Cancer awareness is as important as ever, with 1 in every 8 American women receiving a diagnosis in their lifetimes.

During my press availability, I was joined by Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services Health Insurance Manager Sean Gibson and Health Insurance Navigator Yajaira Isabelle. Together we discussed resources available for county residents to find insurance options that fit their needs.

Indigenous Peoples' Day is an opportunity to show our appreciation for the native populations that inhabited and maintained this land long before the arrival of Europeans. Today gives us a chance to lift up Native stories and honor indigenous cultures.

I am heartbroken for the families and the community at Earle B. Wood Middle school. As a parent this is an unimaginable tragedy, a nightmare. My deepest condolences to the family and friends of the little girl. I am in touch with MCPS, MCPD, and MCDOT to get information as it is available.

What an incredible afternoon celebrating the opening of the new Takoma Park Library! This project has been a long time coming and it was so fulfilling to come together with so many members of our community and government partners to see the new space and cut the ribbon together.
