I do the same kinda thing by using VLC to capture my Spotify audio and stream it out as an MP3 from my main PC, which I then play with iTunes on my iMac G3.

Replaced my wifi access point. THE SPEED. Upload is shit for some reason, but it's overall not bad for a wifi connection in my opinion. Better than my old AP anyway.
