Found one of my favorites in the woods this evening: Toothed Jelly Fungus; is semi-translucent and has tiny gelatinous hedgehog spikes beneath. Delightful.

An expansion area that I prepped a few weeks ago for hay rattle sowing. Slowly getting full hay rattle coverage in the acre. Oxeye daisy and cats ear, plantain and a few other herbs present here already. A few stumps need removal.

Mosses aside, there are at least 4 different species of epiphytic plants on less than metre of this birch tree. From top down: 1. Polypody fern 2. Broad buckler fern 3. Wood sorrel 4. Hay-scented buckler fern This is rainforest.

Record breaking flooding in my area recently. My BDA complex is doing it's tiny part to slow the flow, as extensive beaver dams once did throughout almost every stream and river. This begs the question, if beavers were still allowed run of the waterways, would the severe flooding be diminished?

This also feels like a long time ago! Stared at by wild European Bison in a wild forest on a warm spring day. I see Bison every spring in Białowieża Forest, but not often like this: a group of adults protecting their calf, making sure I didn't get too close. Normally they just run, thundering away.

The beaver is going to town: devouring a downed cottonwood tree, and is getting close to felling this poplar.
