This is a big deal. A German Bundeswehr brigade stationed in Lithuania to help deter Russia and strengthen #NATO’s eastern flank. With 4,800 soldiers and 200 civilian staff, this will be the Bundeswehr’s largest permanent deployment abroad.

Research ties between Germany and the US are strong, and both sides benefit. The Max Planck Society recently funded +650 visiting scholars and +930 research projects. Germany’s machinery and equipment industry plays a key role in supporting the US economy. Amid new US tariffs on the EU, I had a valuable exchange with VDMA President Bertram Kawlath on how to further strengthen our transatlantic industrial ties.

Witnessed the launch of SpaceX Falcon 9. Impressive! Also on my agenda: NASA’s Kennedy Space Center, Blue Origin, Airbus, and a German-American space start-up. The US is a leader in space exploration, and Germany and Europe are key partners in advancing technology, science, and the next frontier.

Had a good discussion with Governor Ron DeSantis. Germany and Florida share strong economic ties and are collaborating on cutting-edge research in key areas. My country is committed to strengthening this partnership and ensuring that we both continue to reap the benefits of our close cooperation.
