Banana fact of the day! Did you know? A majority of the world's bananas are grown in India, China and the Phillipines, with another 28% being grown in Latin and North America! That's over 50 million tonnes of bananas!

Did you know? A ripe banana is not always yellow, and they can come in multiple colors! Ripe bananas can be purple, or even pink, or black, not just yellow!

The largest species of banana is the Oem, or the Musa Ingens, for its scientific name. Each of its leaves can grow to be 5 meters in length. The fruits of this tree are generally 0.18 meters long. These bananas are grown in New Guinea, and Indonesia!

I really love Yu-Gi-Oh! So! Did you know? There is a Yu-Gi-Oh! card exclusive to the OCG(like many cards) called ナナナ, or Nanana, which is a reference to bananas. The card artwork even has a banana in it!

Did you know? Bananas get their yellow color from the breakdown of chlorophyll pigments by ethylene gas. When the bananas become exposed to the gas, the acids in the fruit start to break down, giving it its signature yellow hue.

Did ya know? Bananas are more than 60% identical to humans in terms of DNA. Although one is an animal, and one is a fruit, the banana has similar functioning genes to humans.
