Something I love about re-reading books after several years is remembering plot points, but just barely, so I have the fun of both anticipation and familiarity.

I just emailed 90 students that we didn't award their bachelor's degree. The day before a holiday weekend. From my personal email because Outlook is a bitch. And because I'm mentally fried. F my life.

YET, when I meet others doing the same things, there's no judgement, only joy for them & interest in their experience. I wish I could feel that way for myself.

I especially struggle with the purchases that feel "wasteful" or "selfish." I need to justify or soften things like season tickets to the local soccer team or theater. I'm kind of embarrassed that we're going to a world cup match.

Growing up in a financially insecure home, money has been one of the biggest anxiety triggers for most of my life. Once I started working, balancing the ideas of "save for the unknown/future" and "I can replace that/treat myself" has been difficult to embrace.
