making an opto-linear sensor: Step 4: test your sensor. You will need to know the range and scale to make an amplifier that will correct the range to what you want, which is a step I dont have ready yet.

making an opto-linear sensor: Step 3: Install the two leds in a dark slide-tube.

making an opto-linear sensor: Step 2: find some leds that can produce enough light to generate about 1.3V on the previously selected LED. Red ones and some white ones might be suitable.

making an opto-linear sensor: Step 1, blind a few LEDs and find some that can generate 1.3V or so. Red and green ones seem to be good, but red being the best.

Good morning with 3d prints. These fit much better and have end-caps I can install the leds easier with.

The sensor just works! I sort of expected to need to get a bit fancy with the inner channel. I need to tighten the fit and make it easier to get the leds installed. 600mV is an awesome-strong signal! Most of the effort here is finding a good LED set. I will talk more about this later!

I have concluded that it may not be the cad work, but the 3d printing that slows down my robots. I would like to try cadding a robot thats all cut on the cnc and see how the build time compares. "Learning happens with the opportunity to fail."

My robot idea this week is a 1 linear axis robot that I can use as an excuse to develop a linear sensor for my mini linear actuators. I'm still working out details.

There is a voice in my head that is REALLY awake, and because of it, none of the rest of us voices can GET ANY SLEEP.

I want an attiny13 version of this ch32 board I designed.... I suppose the programming get uglier and it needs many more of the pins...

I 3d printed a centering helper for using a 7 blade fan as a solder spool holder. These work really well because of the slight resistance from the magnets in the motor. I would share the design, but I know you want to make your own anyway don't ya? hmm? no stress, its a maker thing.

The install included an upgrade to 80A, as 50A didn't seem to be working out. I have no idea if I'm going to blow the transistors, we will see... I still need a speed control solution. I did get a switch installed for the electronic clutch.

ugh, I spent most of the day on the power disconnect system for this tractor. I had to print up a case for the relay as it wasn't enclosed and the contacts wont like trying to close on the head of large spiders....

These disconnectable PCB headers make nice multiconductor splicers.

Space for my existing fleets of robots has already been an issue.

That mech is just about the budget limit. The cans of paint were $10 ea, but I'd used more than half a can on another project, the screws were new, and it used up a reasonable amount of welding rod, all total ~ $20.
