I am seeing a lot of intense reactions to #StarWars #TheLastOrder today, and I don't understand where it is coming from. The marketing was not misleading, while it certainly didn't say "We're going to have a lot of flashbacks," there was absolutely NO indication of a vast time jump, or training- 1/3

1/5 is a failing grade but I genuinely did not expect what we got. There’s a little something for many different kinds of #StarWars fan! The lack of proper Mando and Grogu tie-ins is saddening but ultimately fits the pattern. Looking forward to more news about the new SW initiative though!

With a week to go until #NYCC, some predictions about the #StarWars Publishing Panel: 1. Half or more of the time will be spent on current/imminent releases (every author on the panel is from this category) 2. They will confirm LoV, JK, and SW (2025) are all ending after 10-12 issues 1/3

The process behind the #StarWars #TheHighRepublic Phase 3 Luminous 9 armor was great to see in Art of Vol. 2, and so much was unused! I’ve attached some of my favorite pieces to these posts, but another element I really wish we had gotten was the fascinating idea proposed by Iain McCaig- 1/3

One of the most interesting elements gathered from Art of #TheHighRepublic Vol. 2 is the reported disagreements regarding the direction Phase 2 took in drawing from the westward expansion of the USA to inform its story and world. I had to wait a little bit longer than I would have liked, but I got Art of #TheHighRepublic Vol. 2 last week!! I was so glad to finally read this, see all of the amazing art, and get such a great look at how Phases 2 and 3 came into being. Some of my theories on influences and inspiration- 1/3

Better late than never in discussing Sanctuary! I will avoid spoilers, but ultimately, the novel is a perfect arc of #StarWars #TheBadBatch with a hint more edge due to the different stakes and villains involved. Everyone is rendered great here, and the new characters are fascinating. 1/2

I’ve fallen dreadfully behind on posts for recent #StarWars releases, but that changes today! The Crystal Crown! An excellent @tessagratton.bsky.social YA novel that explores beloved #TheAcolyte characters on a detail-rich planet! A load of other fun new characters, and a lot to love here. 1/2

To my DEEP sadness, my local bookstore isn't getting The Art of THR: Volume II for at least another week due to a weird distributor issue. I cannot wait to get my hands on it, I have been so excited for its release! But, coverage of that release will be delayed for the time being. On to Sanctuary!

Throughout #Wayseeker, we see discussions about how history is remembered and recorded, and the ways records are kept. Given that events of the past which became distorted were partly to blame for worse events in #TheHighRepublic, let’s see what Wayseeker has to say on the matter! 1/6

I believe #Wayseeker is fascinating as a story that seems to reflect the entirety of #TheHighRepublic in its pages, and perhaps alludes to some original ideas of how the initiative would end. What do I mean by that? Well, most of the broad plot details represent THR but on fast-forward. 1/6

Enough time has passed since the release of the novel #Wayseeker, and since #TrialsoftheJedi, that I’ll finally be discussing various aspects of the book in the coming days! In short, this #StarWars novel is a tremendous culmination of work and dedication which should be deeply lauded. 1/2

I've held off on posting more of my thoughts about #TheHighRepublic #TrialsoftheJedi because some of the last things to talk about have major spoilers. So, read further at your own risk! Otherwise, it is time I talk about Elzar Man and Avar Kriss, and the Arthurian elements in this THR novel. 1/5

The #StarWars planet Lothal being named after the ancient port of Lothal in modern day India is not a new fact. But, I rarely see any deeper analysis of how that name might have impacted the story of #StarWarsRebels, since Lothal means “the mound of the dead” in the local language, Gujarati. 1/4

The Battle of Eriadu is a grand finale to #TheHighRepublic , and clearly illustrates the strengths and weaknesses of the Nihil. But what is Eriadu left with in the aftermath? I suggest a hatred of outsiders for the chaos unleashed by the Nihil and for those who did not bleed for the planet. 1/5

The #StarWars comic series Jedi Knights has seen interesting explorations of various characters, new and old. But Issue 3, while full of stunning visuals, prompted some to wonder how it might factor into the wider plot of the series given how removed it seems. But, I have a theory for this. 1/3

The Battle of Eriadu in #TrialsoftheJedi is a big moment, and has nods to existing material from canon while heavily integrating details from the storyline in THR Adventures. But, it also shows us an authoritarian ideology that came to its greatest prominence in the time of the Galactic Empire. 1/5

A long time coming, I want to discuss one of my favorite elements of A Pirate’s Fortune, the second and last DLC for #StarWarsOutlaws: the datapads. You can find so many while exploring the new locations of this DLC, and some only appear after a certain point in the story! 1/4

Something small from #TrialsoftheJedi was a mention of the recent formation of the Trade Federation. #TheAcolyte ‘s Visual Guide noted that they were also one of the companies that helped lobby for the creation of the Corporate Sector, meaning the Sector is very new in galactic history terms. 1/3

So, with over two weeks since #TrialsoftheJedi went out into the world, I’m going to begin posting about some of the elements of the novel that factor into wider #StarWars storytelling and discuss a few elements drawn from our real world! 1/2

I remember how delighted I was to read Rise and Fall a year ago. Its discussions of so many critical topics and the inclusion of even the smallest parts of canon storytelling, really makes the book essential to any fan, series or casual. I hope it continues to see success!

While #TheHighRepublic fandom has just cause to be focused elsewhere right now, we can't forget about The Acolyte: The Visual Guide! It is a great book as is usual in the format, with some neat expansions on the show's lore. It also has a few fascinating details I'll examine in the coming weeks!

#TrialsoftheJedi is a enthralling, shocking, finale to #TheHighRepublic 's three Phases of storytelling. So many characters get POVs, appear in a range of scenes and settings, and the narrative @charlessoule.bsky.social weaves is full of twists and depth. Truly excellent as a final chapter- 1/3

My last comment about Trials is a hope that we’ll see the vacant seats on the Jedi Council filled. A third of the Council is gone, and it is entirely likely another #TheHighRepublic Council member will die in this finale. That leaves the future of the Jedi open to some substantial reshaping- 1/3

Another thing I am looking forward to with Trials are the new faces. There are always a few fun new side characters in #TheHighRepublic in each novel, and sometimes, they actually survive the story! But really, it is interesting to see aliens new and old appear, some Jedi, others civilians. 1/2

One of the things I hope we get a fair bit of in Trials is Lina Soh, and the Republic itself. Not the Jedi, the Republic. #TheHighRepublic has gradually introduced a cast of senators, ministers and aides who would help greatly flesh out this final chapter, and pay off some teases from years ago. 1/3

On a note completely unrelated to Trials of the Jedi but linked to #StarWars #TheHighRepublic projects, me, after having watched The Good Dinosaur for the first time in the decade since it released:

My only other comment about the Luminous 9 is to speculate about Elzar and Avar, Lancelot and Guinevere. The nature of #TheHighRepublic as a modern retelling of Arthurian stories might mean their pairing could survive the end of Camelot, or it could follow tradition. 1/3

I can’t say much on the fate of the #StarWars Luminous 9, but I did want to comment on Azlin Rell. He’s a character steeped in eldritch horror, an unnatural being who is about to travel to the source of his altered state. What happens to him there, whether he is healed (his eyes may grow back)- 1/2

I think the recent interview discussing the end of Phase 3 mentions something important that helps support the nature of #TheHighRepublic as an Arthurian narrative. The article mentions that Stellan was originally meant to die at the end of the initiative, which links to an Arthurian influence. 1/3

Terec and Ceret are The High Republic’s…Balin and Balan? These two brothers are infamous for a lack of recognition leading to their deaths in combat against each other. Terec and Ceret aren’t there yet, but their separation and developing individuality means they are becoming estranged. #StarWars

Bell Zettifar is The High Republic’s…Yvain? Not many Arthurian knights have animal companions, though Ember isn’t quite the lion Yvain has at his side after saving the big cat from danger. Still, knights/warriors with dogs are a common motif in medieval artwork and culture. #StarWars #Knights

I have just completed the main story to A Pirate's Fortune in #StarWars Outlaws! I wish I had recorded more of the datapads when I first ran into them, but MAN is this DLC full of amazing lore about a High Republic-era civilization called the Khepi! So many influences and details to discuss soon!

I claim a partial victory! #Andor finale did show Luthen and Kleya visiting Naboo, and given their itinerant lives before that, perhaps we’ll learn they claimed they were from that planet. It was also where they dressed up the most, suggesting it’s where Luthen made a lot of money there. 1/2

With about 5 hours left before the finale of #Andor I want to make one key prediction: I think this final arc will have an episode that reveals Luthen is from Naboo. Why? Naboo culture is the most prevalent human culture represented in his shop through the various royal headdresses. 1/2

An interesting, though sad, theory about a small detail in #StarWars #Andor. We learn that there was "no suitable replacement or synthetic alternative" for the kalkite located in Ghorman's crust. However, this statistic apparently comes from "the lab in Eadu" which...is run by Galen Erso. 1/3

Thanks to #Andor and the expansion on Ghorman, we should reconsider Ryloth in #StarWars. It isn’t Space France because the Twi’leks have French accents and a love of freedom, it is instead Space Algeria, which has a messy yet better reflective history of Twi’lek struggles. 1/5
