Onosato is my boy but I can't help but laugh every time he gets yeeted out the dohyo by Hoshoryu. Just every single time Hosh is like "not today, Daiki" *toss* and then Onosato always has that wonderful "goddamn it" face afterwards. Both of you GET SOME DAMN REST! #sumo

Atamifuji had an amazing basho too! That's got to get him a promotion to the san'yaku. Maybe not sekiwake since Kirishima and Takayasu both got kachi-koshi, but komusubi at least, right?

They may not be yusho contenders, but I will never not love a Hoshoryu v Onosato match. Get him Hoshoryu!

Oof, poor Aonishiki. I was hopeful he'd get Onosato this time, but that was pretty freaking dominant. Onosato isn't my favorite, but I'll never deny that the boy is freaking GOOD. And Aonishiki is still in the lead, albeit tied again now. I'm still feeling another yusho coming!

They're definitely keeping tonight interesting - Kirishima v Atamifuji, so Aonishiki has no chance to lock the yusho outright tonight.

Imo, this was their best bout yet. Hoshoryu was on the right track trying to get Aonishiki upright and got close! I think a fully healthy Hoshoryu is going to give Aonishiki some real trouble later this year.

Aonishiki yusho is looking better & better! We'll see how tonight goes, but while I hate to see Hoshoryu lose, iirc Aonishiki is undefeated against him Onosato will be interesting. Aonishiki has never beaten him, but O is fighting majorly injured. Aonishiki might pull a yusho off without a play off

And of course my Aonishiki yusho hopes (and thus my Yokozuna Aonishiki debuting in May hopes) are still alive and well! 😍

I fear Shishi should have seen that henka coming a mile away. It IS Abi, after all. And Abi in contention for the yusho to boot. Regardless, it seems like Shishi is finally learning what to do with his long limbs and dialing in his brand of sumo this basho. I love to see it.

I also wish Hoshoryu would give himself time to heal too, and I love me some Takayasu. But oh my goodness, the next time a Hosh hater wants to talk about him not having been ready for the promotion to yokozuna, let's just replay last night's match for them.

I still wish Onosato would pull out and let his body heal, but you gotta love that if isn't realistically in the yusho race, he's still got a major hand in shaping it

You should need more than one-and-a-quarter arms to beat a top level rikishi even if you're Onosato. This is a big miss from Kirishima.

Also no shade to Kirishima, but I'm definitely still pulling for an Aonishiki yusho. 3 losses doesn't make it *impossible* for Hoshoryu to get the yusho, but I'd really rather he pulled out before he seriously screws up his knee.

Hoshoryu and Onosato, you did your thing for the imperial family, can you both PLEASE kyūjō now and let your bodies heal? 😭 I hate seeing them in obvious pain, and I hate the idea of them having to cut their careers short because of debilitating injuries

Took the younger kiddo out to lunch today and then hit up the MOST with the Girl Scouts before we send them back to school tomorrow. Among other general goofiness, we all took turns hatching

Just catching up on basho day 7 and thanks to Asanoyama, most of my boys are back in the yusho hunt! Although I definitely need Hoshoryu to protect his head a bit more 😬 I'm always glad for the win, especially when he shouldn't have had to do it twice - but DAMN that looked like a hard hit.

Aonishiki beat Onosato last basho and Ura beat Onosato this basho. I DO like Onosato. But damn, they're not doing a good job hiding their favoritism.

100% both yokozuna should be 1 loss. The athletic skill and agility displayed by Ura to pull that off should be celebrated.

Setting shirts now, tagging shirts and books after breakfast (restocking shirt sizes S-5X!), Wildflowers this evening, and then home just in time for the start of the hatsu basho tonight - not a bad way to spend a Saturday!
