Had a great chat at the Builders Lunch with Rob Calver and Ken Cog Hill from the Bricklayers Union yesterday. I grew up at a union table, as both my parents were teachers. Unions are sounding the alarm on black market labour and contracts that reward cutting corners.

Since I left the legislature as education critic in 2014 Alberta has decreased its inflation-adjusted per-student spending by over 17%, by far the worst record in Canada. It’s like shopping at Walmart and arguing with the manager for a bigger discount. Danielle: stop making a scene and do a deal!

This morning I met Robin, out early collecting bottles and working hard. Being homeless doesn’t mean being lazy. Sometimes it’s mental health struggles, a job loss, or a few bad breaks and any of us could be out here. Robin is a reminder to see the person, not the stereotype.
