With Live in the Khaleej! Ghazi Al-Mulaifi, Arturo O’Farrill, & @boomdiwan.bsky.social taps into the transcendent nature of music by proclaiming how two seemingly disparate forms – the musics of Kuwaiti pearl divers and Afro-Cuban percussionists – are not only closer than they seem but unified.

I’d also point to British Bahraini trumpeter Yazz Ahmed’s related album A Paradise in the Hold. She was also a part of the Cuban Khaleeji Project commissioned by The Arts Center at NYU Abu Dhabi which led to @boomdiwan.bsky.social x Arturo.
