Excited to share our work just published in
@natmetabolism.nature.com
examining melanoma tumor metabolism in patients and how well this is (and isn’t) conserved in patient-derived xenograft models.

1/My 7th grader's science homework is to learn the elements Memorize atomic masses. She points out that carbon has a mass of 12. My life passes before my eyes. Finally, my chance to explain what I've been doing for 20 yrs. So I say, kind of casually, "you know, sometimes carbon has a mass of 13..."

1/For over a decade, we’ve been studying tumor metabolism in patients with non-small cell lung cancer This long-term commitment allowed us to connect tumor metabolic features to patient outcomes We found that 13C glucose contribution to the TCA cycle predicts overall survival in NSCLC

My lab and I were ecstatic to be funded by the VFoundation and Astrazeneca. Learning it was also sponsored by Hockey Fights Cancer was extra special to my Canadian, hockey-obsessed self. Experiencing the Winter Classic? A dream come true.
