What I love about Spider-Man and Mary Jane. Real love isn’t easy. It’s hard. It’s painful. It’s messy. It would be easier to quit and walk away. Simpler to harden your heart and deny your soul. But then they’d only be half-alive. No matter what, they’ll make it work. Eventually.

As a general policy, I avoid going into detail on new comics out of respect for the creative teams and to avoid spoiling it for readers. That said, I can’t wait to talk about Spider-Man ‘94. @jmdematteis.bsky.social proves he’s still “THAT guy” and Jim Towe nails action scenes. Highly recommended.

Spider-Man ‘94 is out TOMORROW. It’s going to be a blast to revisit these characters after such a long break, and with the legendary J.M. DeMatteis penning it. Who else is excited?!

It sucks how much medical debt can remain in the wake of someone’s passing. And it’s sad that despite Peter David’s contributions to pop culture like Marvel and Star Trek it didn’t provide him with the sort of security that would cover this. I do hope that that the community can pick up that slack.

Create something today. Even if all you create is your own bit of happiness.

It's the birthday of one of the all-time great comic book artists, Gene Colan. From Howard the Duck to Dr. Strange, Tomb of Dracula to Daredevil (and so many more), his art was moody and cinematic and his characters were always expressive and deeply human. A master.

Hickman continues playing the long game with payoffs over a year later. Ultimate Spider-Man #20 is a fascinating companion piece to USM #4, as we see just how much the last year has changed and challenged these people. They’re not the same as before. Good stuff! Highly recommended!

There’s a new Fantastic Four film this week, and by most accounts it’s… fantastic! (Cue the .gif) If anyone is interested in a great run of F4 comics, @ryannorth.ca current batch is highly entertaining and highly recommended.

Finally had time to check out the much-vaunted Image Transformers comics. ... I wasn't expecting so many war crimes right out of the gate or outright brutality. Not sure how I feel after Vol 1 (shellshocked, mostly), but it's definitely a well-written book with great art. 👍

Finished Vol1 of Power Rangers x Ninja Turtles. My inner child is rather happy. Strong character writing and fun playing off each other in very fanservice-y but satisfying ways. I'll need to grab Vol2.
