So I have thoughts about Spider-Man 94, more than can summed up in broken posts on social media, but I want to talk about it in the moment, from a place of passion. Today the miniseries concludes with #5, and overall I had a genuinely good time with it! But let me go deeper. 1/10

This week concludes Spider-Man ‘94 for now, a story I waited a long, LONG time for. I’ve had a joyously good time with it and I’ll miss it. Check out the finale this Wednesday!

I have so much admiration for @carlosgomezartist.bsky.social , and his art on Venom is great, so I hate to point out this obvious drawing mistake. See, Carlos accidentally drew Paul OUTSIDE of the burning apartment instead of INSIDE the hellish inferno. An innocent oversight, I’m sure.

I just learned that the first issue of The Amazing Spider-Man: Torn debuted at #15 out of the top 200 in sales (just 6 spots behind the main ASM line) and at #14 in sales (just 3 spots behind ASM). And issue 2 is even better. Still time for new readers to jump on board.

My little mini Spider-Man rant of the day; I am bored to tears by the concept of “interchangeable love interests” and the idea that committed relationships lack drama. A reason MJ stands apart is she DID fight with Peter, but it went somewhere. It mattered and challenged them. 1/5

I received my issue a day early. I REALLY enjoyed it. It's got some surprising subversions of what you might expect, backed up by amazing art, some very strong character moments, great twists, and a genuinely painful wait until December. Yep, this comic still ROCKS.

What I love about Spider-Man and Mary Jane. Real love isn’t easy. It’s hard. It’s painful. It’s messy. It would be easier to quit and walk away. Simpler to harden your heart and deny your soul. But then they’d only be half-alive. No matter what, they’ll make it work. Eventually.

As a general policy, I avoid going into detail on new comics out of respect for the creative teams and to avoid spoiling it for readers. That said, I can’t wait to talk about Spider-Man ‘94. @jmdematteis.bsky.social proves he’s still “THAT guy” and Jim Towe nails action scenes. Highly recommended.

Spider-Man ‘94 is out TOMORROW. It’s going to be a blast to revisit these characters after such a long break, and with the legendary J.M. DeMatteis penning it. Who else is excited?!

It sucks how much medical debt can remain in the wake of someone’s passing. And it’s sad that despite Peter David’s contributions to pop culture like Marvel and Star Trek it didn’t provide him with the sort of security that would cover this. I do hope that that the community can pick up that slack.

Create something today. Even if all you create is your own bit of happiness.
