Boston EMS is deeply saddened to announce the passing of active-duty EMT Regina Suprin, Badge 1066. A lifelong Boston resident, Regina proudly served her city for more than 13 years. Throughout her career, EMT Suprin built a reputation as a consummate professional and a steadfast colleague.

Welcome to Boston EMS Recruit Class 2025-2! This week, 33 new recruits began their academy training, kicking off months of intensive preparation guided by our dedicated Training Captains and Field Training Officers.

While our crews continue to respond to nearly 400 calls a day, our Materials Management and Special Operations teams are hard at work inspecting every ambulance and its equipment this week.

Today we hosted a group of Norwich University students. Their visit began at Headquarters, where they learned about our department and our role in emergency planning and preparedness. This included a presentation by Superintendent Lessard on the Boston EMS response to the 2013 Boston Bombings.

On National First Responders Day, we celebrate the dedicated members of Boston EMS who answer the call in every neighborhood with courage and compassion—every day of the year.

Today, we pause to remember the lives lost 24 years ago and honor the bravery and sacrifice of the first responders who ran toward danger without hesitation. Boston EMS is proud to once again support the American Red Cross National Day of Service and Remembrance Blood Drive at Fenway Park.

Boston honors the memories of those killed in the tragic events of September 11th, including those aboard AA Flight 11 and UA Flight 175, which had departed from Logan Airport. We hold the loved ones of those lost close and remember the courage and care shown by Americans in service of one another.

Mastering the streets of #Boston takes more than just driving skills—it takes specialized training. Our EMT-Recruits practice in a controlled environment using a large parking lot and cones to simulate real-world challenges like navigating narrow streets, tight turns, and backing up.

After nearly 40 years of dedicated service to the City of Boston, Superintendent Leonard Shubitowski, is retiring from Boston EMS. Len began his journey as an EMT in 1985, became a Paramedic in 1989, rose to Deputy Superintendent in 2016, and Superintendent in 2022.
