“I’d rather you didn’t either.” He got up and put his hands into his pockets on his suit, digging for where he had left the coins he’d picked up. They were money, he knew, but he didn’t know how much they were worth. Handing them over, he glowered at the creature. “Stop stealing.”

‘Then why didn’t you?’ It wasn’t something he said aloud but he did think it. It wasn’t even malicious—there were plenty of times he’d watched ‘villains’ let themselves be destroyed rather than accept help or rescue. Thinking about it, he supposed fear of death trumped pride for the plurality.

He couldn’t answer that, if he was being upfront. The notion had never really made sense to him; he had been spared annihilation once but that had been by the will of an entity and their own agenda. He’d seen many heroes actively give of themselves for the greater good, which made sense too.

"It has been a trial. There is a new threat--this 'Dominion'."

"I deserve that judgment, however untrue it may be." He had to force himself to resist the urge to brood. Now wasn't the time. Instead, he thought back to someone else; or rather, someone else's voice interjected. 'Second chances don't come often but giving them costs you nothing.'

"Good to see you too."

It wasn’t much of a romantic gesture but as they locked hands, Tarogath locked eyes with his assailant as well. It WAS a pragmatic gesture, however. “If you wanted money, you’d need only have /asked/.” Red light spread between them, a pulsing throb that ran from one body to another.

He didn't have much. There were some interesting-looking gadgets and his shoulder pads...a rather fetching scarf that was well-loved. In the pockets of his tunic there were some things that might have been coins but definitely weren't gil. All in all a wasted effort, maybe--but then--!

The Procitor looked at the mage in the hat with a confounded glance. Stupefied, even. "I don't need to sleep..." He grunted, raising his own hand, blinking hard. He pushed himself up to his full height again. "Whatever you're doing will fail."

It was making the cause of finding the source of the magic difficult but not a lost one yet. He wasn't human or even from this dimension--perhaps that is what helped him keep his footing. Enough to follow the trail of magic.
