Well a very tired but happy Jeff returns to a very wet and unhappy Wales (less said the better, I suppose), after a very busy WWL6 in Bristol. Better make a start on some opposition for my 6mm French, in the shape of some British infantry. Baccus figures as usual 😀

Painted some 15mm Panzer Lehr for the latest Lardy PSC. 3 Sections each including 2 teams of 4 men with an MG42 and a JL. Two SL's and 2 Panzershreck teams (just in case I need them). On to the vehicles next 😀 #spreadthelard #chainofcommand2

Very British Civil Wargame today, laid on by @glenbrookgames.bsky.social Using the Fistful of Lead Bigger Battles ruleset. Biscuit factory Militia supported by Welsh Nationalists take on the Britsh Union of Fascists and the West Mercia Constabulary in a very bloody (and sometimes funny) skirmish.

Couple of support options for my DAK/Sicily units, in the shape of a PAK36 and a PAK38. Perry metals and plastics with a plastic PAK36 from Rubicon, and a 3d printed PAK38. I try to avoid metal guns if possible, they're a PITA to put together. #chainofcommand2 #spreadthelard

Back in lockdown, I purchased the Rangers of Shadowdeep rules as I was intrigued by the idea of solo games and campaigns. Virtual Wargaming took off, so I played lots of wargames virtually via Zoom, and never got around to ROSD. I'm going to change that this weekend.

Excellent game of CoC2 yesterday, my US armoured infantry getting shot to bits by @geofftbond.bsky.social d 's Heer platoon. Geoff took a Tiger which whilst a difficult tank to deal with, in no way contributed to the lack of coordination in my attack. Big cats don't win games in COC2.

Had a great game today, hosted by the ever generous @lordraglan.bsky.social. Ultra modern forces, set somewhere in Ukraine. @geofftbond.bsky.social took charge of the Russian forces trying to capture a railway station and kidnap the local mayor. It was my job to stop him 😀👍

Excellent game of CoC yesterday, a proper 'near run thing' with my Panzergrenadiers just holding onto the objective. @geofftbond 's US platoon supported by a heavy mg and a Sherman tank almost got to the objective taking two of my jump off points in the process. #spreadthelard

Today's game is 15mm Chain of Command US v German patrol scenario. Halfway through the game, new rules arrive and now I'm distracted (in a good way) 👍

Great weekend just gone, with Arsehammer on Saturday, and The other Partizan on Sunday. I don't really have much interest in Warhammer tbh, but meeting up with old friends for beer and curry i could do every weekend 👍

Painted some 6mm Baccus French Napoleonic Foot Artillery. 3 guns and limbers, the guns are detached into their own base when unlimbered, and a 'blank' fills the space on the limber base. I'm probably going to add caissons or battery guard to these blanks in the future.

I had one-off these dead horses with a cart painted up for my snowy table, so it's thought id do one for my med table as well. Comes in handy as a deployment/jump off point or just as some table dressing.

Brrrt brrrt! A nice support option for my Sicily/Italian DAK platoon, in the shape of an MG34 MMG with 5 crew. Now with CoC2 it comes with it's own hard cover, so i knocked up a quick sandbag entrenchment for it to hide behind. #spreadthelard ##chainofcommand2

And now for something completely different. Having a little break from painting 28mm WW2, so painting 6mm Napoleonics just for a change. Two French Dragoon Regiments for the Peninsula, Adler miniatures from H&R.

Managed to do the third section for my DAK/Italy forces, one more left to do, as its always good to have the choice of an extra section. I've included a 'group' shot of the figures painted so far, I've tried to give the impression of a mix of uniforms, whilst keeping to an overall theme.

Sharpe Practice today, bit rusty but having lots of fun. The Brits almost lose because Spanish Guerrillas lose their discipline and charge French Line defending a wall (not a good move) The French attack falters as their Officers die under a hail of British lead, lowering their force morale to 0

Could any of you Napoleonic gamers help me with information about the French Chasseurs a cheval wearing the shako rouleau please 😀 What period and campaigns would be very helpful 👍

After Neil Thomas's Ancient rules we decided to give a hex version of his Napoleonic rules a run out. We used the blocks and terrain from the C&C Napoleonic game and fought Rolica, great fun 😁

Summer holidays means summer games with the grandson. 15mm Ancients with Early Greek Hoplites versus Earl Achaemenid Persians using Neil Thomas rules. Simple, straightforward and another beating for me 🤣 Figures and buildings property of the late Mike Hobbs, miss you everyday Hobbsy mate 👍

That went well (not). J took an extra Section and a SU122. I put my faith in field defences to try and channel him down the flanks. The firefight was pretty even till the tank turned up. A last stand by one of my sections in the objective house was smashed with 11 HE with a storm of steel bonus.

WIP Wednesday and I have quite a bit on the go. Buildings and fencing in 28mm for the Eastern front game i have planned. 28mm T34's etc as supports for J's Russians. Another 28mm squad of DAK. And a 15mm railway station for Old Hickory. Busy busy 💪

Up next, 28mm Napoleonics using Valour and Fortitude. Never played these rules before, so it's a straight forward scenario with 4 Objective markers (The cows), and 2 brigades per side.

Russians (a short thread) A couple of weeks ago, my grandson Jacob, asked me to paint some Russians for him. He said he wanted them to go up against my snowy Germans in our games of Chain of Command, and like the soft touch I am I said yes.

Yesterday's game saw me in charge of some plucky Brits attacking an Objective held by @geofftbond.bsky.social 's dastardly hun. The house circled in red was the objective and with 14 support pts against Geoffs 8 pts I was hoping for the best

I've subscribed and had a quick look at the site, I'm very impressed. It's going to be a centre for all things Lard, a place to keep up to date with what's going on, and also ask all those questions you ever had about any of the rules. For a fiver a month it's a no brainer!

So today, me and my grandson started learning a new set of rules in preparation for a games day at Firestorm Games in Cardiff in a couple of weeks time. I aint been shot Mum, WW2 company level rules, here's the table set up for an introductory game using infantry alone.
