One nagging thing that bugged me about Marie's design, is that if you cropped her from the knees up (common for comic panels) her hat didn't match anything, which never looked right to me. Someone smarter than me suggested gloves, so I tried it. Does it work, or does it look too 'contrived'?

The issue I always have with the question of, "how do you get popular," is that it has no real answer other than "do what people like." but that's not how most artists get there. It's why I think the most common answer to it is "don't worry about becoming popular." Because no one who has did.
