Reskeeting instead of posting in the thread because I want to talk about this specific idea, & because I am both trans & an artist. First of all, the below premise is a complete deflection, & a dehumanizing one at that. To swap real people for an intellectual & romanticized ideal of art is crass.

Living in Berlin, getting food to "taste like home" has been more challenging than I imagined. One of my lifelines has been French's Yellow Mustard. In the US, I usually preferred it to fancier, gourmet mustard. But now it tastes SOO much better because it's quite hard to find here. Little things. 🥹

I've been thinking a lot lately about trans lineage. I started DIYing in 2016. I'm just a few months away from 10 years of trans experience. I was super active & popular on Trans Twitter from 2018-2022. At the peak of it, between myself & my two partners, we had around 70K followers.

There are many reasons to complain about Distrokid, which I have used for distribution for several years. But the latest is that Slaps.com, their music networking & feedback platform, has become infuriatingly unusable. It's participation based; if you give fire & comment on tracks, you earn credits.

You know when you just know you wrote a good song? Yeah. 😎

I have an advent piece that I wrote coming out on December 15 through the Methodist Federation for Social Action. I don't have the following here that I used to have on Twitter, so I have no idea who will read it, but in a year of constant change & unfamiliarity, it felt good to return to my roots.

Songs about queer love & sex, justice, cars & guitars. Songs of protest, of peace, of revolution, of trans joy & rage. Anti-fascist anthems, anti-racist rockers, music of mourning & dancing. Creation is a weapon. Make, even as they destroy, a sound so loud they will not hear the coming of their end.

At a 30th birthday karaoke bar party, & my autistic brain is simply incapable of processing talking and music at the same time.

I've been soaking up as much knowledge & as many secrets as I can find about how Bob Rock makes records. I've learned so much, but maybe the best part has been just going through his discography & discovering how every artist he records, whether they are big or small, sounds sonically incredible.

I had been using amp sim+cab sim for some time, but I just wasn't super happy with the tone, especially for recording. So recently I've been using just the cab sim into a preamp, and crunching it up with my pedals. Currently, I'm using the Golden Plexi II as my drive, then using a cleanish boost

I ordered a custom 12 foot bench press bar. It's 70lbs, and it has a 6 month turnaround time for delivery. It's gonna be a long weight.

Back together! I'm also trying some new strings: a set of Pyramids. I had been using lighter gauge strings at the insistence of the guitar internet, but I wanted to go back to my preferred hybrid gauge setup. Thomann didn't have the Slinkies I wanted, but the .052 - .010 set is just what I wanted.

My guitar's wiring was about 15-20 years old, & some of the solder joints had cracked or disconnected. I was also ready for a new look, so this weekend I gave her a fresh coat of signal yellow & some new electronics. ☺️ This machine is (almost) ready to kill fascists again! #guitars #transmusic

I got an official medical record of my transition care from my PCP sent to my rheumatologist, who was treating me for Psoriatic Arthritis, so that they could both be on the same page. At my next visit, the rheumatologist lit into me, claiming it was "traumatic" for him to find out like that.
