With her autoimmune condition, Nicole struggled to work enough to repay her student loans. LAFLA helped her apply for a debt relief program for people with disabilities, but months passed with no response. Finally, she was told she'd have to apply all over again.

After years in and out of juvenile hall, Walter received a 20-year federal sentence at just 19 and decided to turn his life around. Now a reentry advocate, he cleared his record with LAFLA’s help and is pursuing certification in substance abuse counseling to help heal and uplift his community.

During the recent wildfires, incarcerated firefighters risked their lives to protect our communities. Now, they deserve the chance to continue that service after their release.

Kudos to these five UCLA Law students who spent an alternative spring break supporting tenants through our Housing Justice & Homelessness Prevention Week—gaining hands-on experience with L.A.'s eviction crisis and deepening their understanding of housing justice. 🏠
