After frying many braincells, I found the bit of evidence to prove that the Cund brothers I have been researching are the same as the Cond brothers - the will states 'James Cond, formerly Cund', gives all the matching addresses to other documents, and brother's name. Happy dance!

My story today - The killer of little mule spinners - is the story of how the work of young cotton mill hands called piercers was giving them a rare form of cancer.

I can't understand why many family historians don't research siblings and other family members. Today, researching my 'plane crash' family, I idly clicked on the mother's brother's 1939 reg entry. Spotted a familiar name, which showed me the two sides of the family knew each other long before

Feeling a bit pleased with myself - just found that bit of evidence that shows that I am right, and everyone else's trees for this particular family on Ancestry (and therefore their unhelpful hint) is wrong! I may even have done a little 'air-punch'!

Hi genies! Quick question - on a passenger list, if a person's name has a line through, does that just mean they didn't travel?

Does anyone know of a reason why I would get 'no results found' on GRO when looking for a death cert? A while ago I did find the entry, along with vol and page but did not proceed with order, just noted details. Now, even when I put in all the info it says not found.

Found a brilliant newspaper account of a wedding in 1899 including descriptions of bridesmaids' attire - 'peagreen dresses trimmed with Maltese lace' - and a long list of guests and gifts - table linen, cushions, a pickle fork, two views of Ilfracombe and an umbrella, amongst others!

I wonder if anyone can give me their thoughts on this photo. The date on the back is July 1921. In 1915, Flo married Charles, who was in the East Yorkshire regiment.(Not this man). He was not KIA, and I can't find a later death. So, who is John, and why the 'cosy' pose?!

Spent a lot of time trying to track down 'Flo', the friend of an ancestor of my husband's. Done lots of detective work piecing the story together - found censuses and marriage to 'Charles'. Only problem is, in the middle of the timeline is a photo from 'Flo and John' Who the heck is John?!!

Whilst searching the 1921 census for Marfleet, Hull, I came across this! Albert Ernest Train was the stationmaster at Marfleet station, employed by North Eastern Railways. A most appropriate surname! Made me smile, anyway!
