Young mom of two (5 & 2). Lived in Alberta her whole life, except a few months back east. Flees domestic violence and returned home in January. Now she’s on the streets. Third job today. Helping a man remove his 20yr old facial tattoos. Sober and focused on his health, he has no means. However Legacy Tattoo Removal volunteer their time and equipment and are huge partners in our collective community.

1/ second job of the day. Meet with a man I have worked with for over 10 years. He has overcome his addiction and mental health challenges. He has been employed in the trades and sober for the last eight years.

First job of the day. Take a youn woman to court. She was the vixitm of horrific abuse who ultimately made a bad choice and assaulted her partner. I dont know if her partner was ever charged with anything.

This morning met with a young mom who has been in a two year battle to get her children back. She is sober and focused, yet it seems children services is focused on taking her children permanently. Im helping her change that trajectory.

This morning I picked up a vulnerable young mom for court. She has a week long trial regarding domestic violence with her ex abusive partner. She has a very committed lawyer helping her through this situation.

I am happy to say that Kilee the dog has a safe and loving home for the next couple of weeks. Thanks to this amazing community.

Yesterday I supported a young father of three. After a hard but fair meeting with Grandma and Children’s Services, there’s a path forward. CFS will work with Dad toward bringing his kids home.

Helping a young mom with FASD who has spent much of her life in care and on the streets. One key concern is her 1-year-old dog, Kiliy, who is aggressive toward other dogs. Kiliy now has a safe home for the next few days. The Edmonton Police HELP Team is also involved.

Watching a young mom spiral is never easy. Her kids apprehended, she was charged this weekend after a fight with her sister. Alcohol and lifelong trauma (she grew up in care) are huge factors. Still, choices have consequences. I truly hope she starts making the ones that lead her back to her kids.

Lots of calls this morning, helping a family who is working with collabertavily with children services as a family member struggles with mental health and trauma.

1/Helped out an elderly lady who has some serious mental health concerns, which leads to a lot of chaos and risk. Bought her some phone minutes, gave her a donated jacket, and provided a $35 Tim Hortons gift card. She has been banned from Hope Mission and sleeps on the street.

I disagreed with Premier Kenney on almost everything. However, I never questioned his loyalty to Canada, to Canadians, or to the office he served. I cannot say the same about @daniellesmithab.bsky.social. I also found him genuinely interested in the people he met. Here he is with my son.

Very sad to hear about Ms. O’Hara. SCTV was a big part of my teen years. At 15, working next to ITV, I met Catherine O’Hara, John Candy, and Eugene Levy a few times. They were all kind. Catherine even joked about candle wax on my uniform. #yeg

Assisting a vulnerable lady today in treatment. She owns a modest apartment and has two squatters living inside. An eviction notice was posted on the door. Communicating with one of these squatters' probation officers and informing government agencies about possible fraud.

Helping a mom whose 16-yr-old is in care. Credit to Children’s Services for supporting a vulnerable youth while keeping her connected to Mom. I’m often critical of CFS, but over the decades their approach has become more compassionate and collaborative — in my view.

1/ Helping a woman currently in detox and treatment. She owns her apartment and let two people stay out of kindness. There is no lease. They have now changed the locks and refuse to leave, preventing her from accessing her own home.

Nobody likes paperwork. I don't like paperwork. Unfortunateley it is such a critical component of what I do. So tomorrow, I will be hunched over my desk, doing ....paperwork.

Was in Camrose this afternoon assisting a young woman who, due to severe abuse and trauma, lost her children. They’ve since been adopted by a family that encourages contact and recognizes Mom’s vital role in their lives. Foster and adoptive parents like this are a godsend.

1/ Working with Children Services in perhaps returning 3 small children into the care of the grandmother. Grandmother's son, the father, is attending parenting counselling.

Had a great meeting with YRAP (Youth Restorative Action Project) this morning. They are Canada's only youth-run, youth-governed, sanctioned justice committee. It has been around since 2001. #yeg www.yrap.org

Eight to twenty messages a week. I don’t charge. I show up. Sometimes it’s a damage deposit or first month’s rent. Sometimes it’s a treatment bed or a safe ride. Sometimes it’s standing with a mom fighting for her child. Asking for help takes courage. Most of the time, it hurts.

Helping an older mom who has serious health issues. Her child is having a tough go with his mental health. Drove them both, so her son can get some mental health support today. I find that these little things have positive outcomes.

Young dad calls me, very upset, in tears. He states his small child, who is in the care of Children Services had a medical emergncy last week, and was only notified today. As a parent myself, I can only imagine the fear, shock, & sense of helplessness learning this as an afterthought. #abpoli

Met a mom who is the victim of a sexual assault by her husband. He has outstanding warrants in a different province. She is the primary caregiver, yet he controls the Child Tax Benefits. Yeah, buddy, not for long.

am in family court supporting a young father. In this particular case I feel Children Services acted intrusively and could have taken a different approach. The fight today is to entrenched visits for dad with his children, one of whom is disabled.

Mom has her children apprehended. I get that. Children must be safe!!!. After the fact, parents still have a vital role. Small child has his birthday. Same day as scheduled visit with mom---Children Services cancels visit as so foster parent can hold Bday party. Of course mom isnt invited #abpoli
