If you're thinking of running in any of the main cities in BC for mayor/council/school board, it's time to think about what party to join. Election rules changed before 2022 so you can't share $ or data with other candidates unless you belong to the same electoral organization (party). 1/

In a little over 15 months, BC will be voting in municipal elections again. Seems so far away, but it's really not. Great elected leaders are looking for new people to join school board and councils. If you even have the tiniest idea you might want to lead, talk to your favourite elected. or....

Poor behavior with no real mechanism for accountability erodes democracy. It limits us to candidates who are willing to 'put up with' bad behavior in order to govern. We deserve better than that. Ready for that provincial Ethics Commissioner. Been ready for it since 2019.

Unchecked and Unchallenged, the behaviour of elected officials in local government is a problem. It's a problem for many who want to serve but won't, for staff who have no recourse for abuse, and for residents who are losing trust when councils can just suspend process when they don't like it.

Tonight at our last session of campaign school, we cover media training, which is good for learning to stay on message. The golden rule is: If you don't want to be quoted on it, don't say it. And that goes for posting on social media. *ahem*
