Our final selection criteria for the Rhodes Scholarship is leadership. Rhodes Scholar Kate Bradley discusses how you might demonstrate leadership in both thought and action in your application by indicating how you have the courage to act on your initiative and inspire others to follow.

The third selection criteria for the Rhodes Scholarship focuses on service. Rhodes Scholar Linet Ng'ang'a discusses how you might demonstrate a commitment to truth, courage, devotion to duty, sympathy for and protection of the weak, kindliness, unselfishness and fellowship in your application.

Rhodes Scholars Dhruv Darji and Kelechi Prince Chima have co-founded a new podcast, The Pan-African Pulse. The podcast explores health across Africa through the lens of geopolitics by bringing together a diverse range of African voices. The podcast will be launching on Africa Day, Monday 25 May.

The second of the selection criteria for the Rhodes Scholarship is energy to use one's talents to the full. Rhodes Scholar Oyama Mzayidume suggests how you might demonstrate commitment and mastery in areas such as sporting, musical and creative pursuits in your Rhodes application.

This International Day of Women Judges, we're celebrating #RhodesScholar Christine French from New Zealand. #RhodesScholar Noorain Khan has spent her career lifting others up, from Oxford to law, to philanthropy, and to President of Girl Scouts USA. The Rhodes Scholarship, she says, gave her "permission to step off the conventional path and engage with the world more authentically."

On World Book Day, we are shining a spotlight on the thriving African short story reading group among our #RhodesScholar community. Since their first meeting in November 2023, they've gathered 15 times and read 30 short stories. Their goal is to read a story from every African country.

Tiana Dinham, a major in Geographical Sciences, plans to pursue the MSc in Water Science, Policy and Management and later a DPhil on Geography and the Environment, with the goal of helping ensure that all Jamaicans have access to clean water.

Recognised as 2025 Nat Geo Young Explorers, #RhodesScholars Lana Alabbasi and Max Han spent a week at the National Geographic Society HQ in Washington DC where they received training on effective communication, leadership and impact, and tailored guidance on their independent projects.

#RhodesScholar Larry Hartmann (New York & Merton 1958) is a psychiatrist, educator and activist who helped transform the American Psychiatric Association through a landmark decision in 1973: the removal of homosexuality from the APA's diagnostic manual of mental illness.
