Last week we hosted our Going Down Dinner for our Class of 2024 #RhodesScholars. This annual dinner marks the end of many of our Scholars' time in Oxford and is a chance to say goodbye to their cohort and reflect upon their years as Scholars in Residence.

Rhodes Scholar Michael Sandel has been described as 'the world's most influential living philosopher,' and was recently awarded the Berggruen Prize, the world's most prestigious prize for philosophy. We recently welcomed him to Rhodes House to sign copies of his books for the Rhodes House library.

The third selection criteria for the Rhodes Scholarship focuses on service. Rhodes Scholar Linet Ng'ang'a discusses how you might demonstrate a commitment to truth, courage, devotion to duty, sympathy for and protection of the weak, kindliness, unselfishness and fellowship in your application.

Rhodes Scholars Dhruv Darji and Kelechi Prince Chima have co-founded a new podcast, The Pan-African Pulse. The podcast explores health across Africa through the lens of geopolitics by bringing together a diverse range of African voices. The podcast will be launching on Africa Day, Monday 25 May.

#RhodesScholars spent a sunny day in Kew Gardens, London last month as part of the sustainability learning thread. They enjoyed exploring and taking in the glorious botanical gardens, and discussed how current ecological challenges are shaping their own journeys and work with communities.

The Early Careers Launchpad (ECL) is one of many ways we support Rhodes Scholars and others to inspire and uplift one another. The ECL offers structured opportunities for those in the formative stages of their careers to develop skills, build networks and explore diverse professional pathways.
