#rustyrambles Bringing back my favs on here for mermay cause I'm shy about talking about them openly for reasons. Charles talking a walk down the nearby beach of his home and finding a sick and nearly dead merman Arthur washed up on the shore by an alcove, quickly assessing the situation with him

to quickly bring him to his house by the lake to help rehabilitate Arthur. Making sure it was alright for him to be in freshwater and keeping him in his bathtub for the time being. Spending days on end trying to get medicine in him and having him eat, to some varying results

all before Arthur finally opened his eyes. In a bit of awe at how the man looked at before getting explained where he was and what happened, trying to talk but his mind still wasn't there as he nodded to being there while he healed up and before they both knew it he was swimming in the lake

and 'hunting' as if he wasn't on the brink of death. How he told Charles he did not want to go back into the ocean and wanted to stay with him, how it was safer and he felt happier away from… everyone. Charles hesitantly agreeing to it but to remind Arthur to not eat all the fish in the lake,

not wanting him to accidentally kill the ecosystem while he was healing. Not that it mattered too much when Charles would bring his own fish he caught from the ocean as snacks for the ever growing merm, how Arthur went from skinny and frail, to large and softer.

Getting fatter from the safety of not being hunted or others chastising him, letting his hair grow out as well and was more than happy to let Charles shave his facial hair when needed as he felt at peace with the conversations he had with Charles every day and happy that the man seemed to be more

than happy at how he was filling out and being more himself. He felt safe for the first time in his life and if he was to be this overweight and a fatty tuna kind of merm, well then he wasn't gonna be upset about it when he was living finally in his sanctuary with a man he loved dearly.
