Predator: Badlands was a heck of a lot of fun. What a nice surprise. Prey, Killer Of Killers, and now this… it’s just getting better and better. Can’t wait to see what comes next. I was never a huge fan of this series, but I’m all in now.

I love their Spider-Man games, and I’m no doubt looking forward to Wolverine, but as I replay Rift Apart for the first time, I wish PS/Insomniac could get a Ratchet & Clank out the door every few years or so.

The “prosecute the former regime at every level” candidate has my vote in 2028.

I think I did all the Astro Bot things and now I want more. Like, right now.

Back to Astro Bot for the first time since launch. First time on a TV. First time with any of the DLC. This game is incredible. I can’t believe I sorta let it slip from mind and started thinking it was great but not special. It’s special. It feels like THE PS5 game. You must play it if you haven’t.

Fellow Sektori players, which is your preferred mode? I was playing campaign most but I’ve since shifted to classic. The wife likes gates a lot. If I have one complaint about this game, I wish the difficulty increased a bit more gradually. Never has a twin-stick shooter kicked my ass this severely.

First time best bud has been able to get on my lap in years. Dogs are still the best.

Started Popucom tonight with the wife. So far it’s an interesting and fun co-op game with some slightly annoying performance issues. It’s kinda like Splatoon meets Split Fiction meets match-three puzzler. Anybody play this one yet?

The one time I fall out of rhythm and scramble is the time I get it done. Kinda hooked on Windswept.

Trying to figure out how to fit about 17 games into a Top 10 GOTY list. It’s like it’s impossible or something.

Played more of the Windswept demo. I think I’m sold. It might be flawed in its mechanics not being simplified enough to be immediately reflexive in the face of its often intricate, complex level design and its sometimes unforgiving challenges, but with acclimation it’s possible things balance out.

This one make any of your GOTY lists? It seemed to be a hit when it launched but I haven’t heard much about it since.

I thought Yooka-Laylee was slightly above average with very few moments that reached the heights of Banjo-Kazooie. It just didn’t have the focus, polish, and execution typically found in N64-era Rare games. Yooka-Replaylee comes a little closer, though. I’m absolutely having more fun.

Dividing my time between many games, but Trails In The Sky 1st Chapter is getting the most attention. Yooka-Replaylee in close second, though.

Any of you played Windswept? I’m thinking about getting it, but I’m concerned about the mechanics & difficulty. Movement looks demanding, like it needs to be super reliable for that kind of speed & precision, and I’m wondering if it impedes getting all them collectibles. youtu.be/C-gcqY7P3t8?...

Was supposed to get a physical copy of Croc for Switch by the end of Q2 I believe. Still no Croc and the year is nearly over. Really disappointed in Rock It Games. Don’t think I’ll be doing any business with them in the future.

Ha. Perfect timing. I started Trails In The Sky 1st Chapter yesterday. Estelle’s VO is kinda driving me nuts, but otherwise it’s a quality game. Is Falcom maybe releasing too many Trails games lately, though?

Dunno how it runs on Switch, but Rogue Prince Of Persia is now available on both consoles and it’s a great game. Don’t be intimidated by it being a roguelite – its repetition is mission and story driven, and it doesn’t overstay its welcome. If ya like side-scrolling action-platformers, check it out.

Gonna try to post my GOTY list on here before the end of the week. Probably TV and movies too. I’d also include music but the only two albums I strongly connected with were Propagandhi and PUP. Everything else was fine to good. That new Ace Enders has been growing on me, though.

I hear my wife is making me look good on the Sektori leaderboards.

Wario World?! Heck yeah. A few days back I was thinking it would be cool to see this on NSO soon. Didn’t think it would be this soon, though. Fun game. Eager to see how people react to it in 2025.

Galaga Legions DX rules. I wish it had more content, but it’s still a great reimagining of an arcade classic.

Money’s tight this week or I’d be all over that purple Analogue 3D. Damn it’s sexy. I haven’t been able to play my N64 in years. I can’t wait to get one of these ASAP (even if I gotta settle for black) because 64’s reliably been my comfort console most of my life. It’s the racers, man. The racers.

Sometimes an enemy gets up in my face in Metroid Prime 4 and I kinda wish I had the melee attack from Dread.

Would buy.

Hearing conflicting things about Skate Story performance on consoles. Was planning to get it on Switch 2, but now I’m not so sure. Anybody playing it on console? How’s it running for you?

I can’t believe so many of you have completed Prime 4 already. I know it’s not that long of a campaign, but I’m always scanning, scanning, scanning – learning about these areas and how they function. Totally understand why many players may not be attracted to this, but I can’t resist.

I have 4 of the 5 keys in Metroid Prime 4, and, if I leave the desert & bike out of this, the game gets better & better the deeper I get. The desert area however hasn’t improved. It feels under-realized & uneventful, impeding what’s otherwise excellent game design. Very uncharacteristic of Retro.

I wish Nintendo were set to publish Professor Layton And The New World Of Steam because I’m gonna need a Layton and Luke amiibo bundle when and if the game ever releases.

If you’re a fan of 90s beat-em-ups and Marvel (the comics in particular), Cosmic Invasion is such a treat. Play it. But don’t forget Absolum if you’re a fan of the genre. Play that too. It’s legitimately one of the best games of the year and one of the best brawlers of all time.

A Pop-Punk Christmas Playlist

One of my earliest reviews was Kirby Air Ride for Nintendo Life. I felt the game was conceptually underbaked (city trial) and mechanically underwhelming (air ride). Published a 6/10 review and didn’t play it much after. The sequel, however, has become a go-to whether solo or multi. I kinda adore it.

Have there been any updates on Yooka-Replaylee getting a proper Switch 2 upgrade running at 60 fps without sacrificing too much visual fidelity? Don’t think I have any interest in 30 fps at this point. I may get it for PS5, but the Switch Joy-Con remain the better option for my disabilities.

Playing through the opening few hours of Metroid Prime 4 and being hit with a blast of nostalgia not only because it’s been so long since the last new entry in the series but also because I realized I’m sitting in the same room and spot I was when the first game blew my mind just over 23 years ago.

Even if it’s a bit too straightforward and short, I’m chuffed there’s a Klyntar stage in Marvel Cosmic Invasion that culminates in a boss battle with Knull. And then there’s playable characters like Silver Surfer, Venom, Beta Ray Bill, and Cosmic Ghost Rider? Pinch me.

Watched Train Dreams on Netflix and I feel confident it’s gonna find a place on my end of the year list. What a beautiful yet tragic, simple yet captivating film.

Tested out this old Nintendo 64 ROM with the Analogue 3D and while it doesn’t recognize the game title, the ROM does play. Nintendo used to overcharge developers for these so they were often reused. This one has an Earthworm Jim 3D label, but Battle for Naboo is actually on the ROM.

Playing Sektori with the wife, passing the controller back and forth trying to see who can get farther old school style.

See, he knows about Bakeru and has good taste.

I still know so few people who’ve played this game and a whole bunch of you seem like the type who’d like this kind of thing. Seriously, so so fun. Give it a chance if you haven’t.

Ghost Of Yotei is great. I never did get around to playing Tsushima, so the “safe sequel” thing isn’t having an effect on me. But I can say I’ve been bored with the open-world formula for years now outside a few exceptions. This one’s had my full attention since the beginning, though.

Really enjoyed playing through Road Trip mode in Kirby Air Riders. Think I’m gonna do that again in NG+, chip away at the checklist, and try to get the true ending.
