So as the Defend the objective was voted the most. I've worked on the Objective the protect first. X amount of hits will corrupt it until it's totally corrupted in which then the Objective is lost and you'll be able to retry. #gamdev #roguelite #solodev #indietech #roguelite

Now I've added chests to the maze so it has an objective! There are a total of 9 chests and you have to find 3. Also made it so inside the maze you can only auto-move 10 tiles ahead. I think with this I'll consider Mazes done for now 🥳 #gamdev #roguelite #solodev #indietech #roguelite

Logic optimized, now it's instant instead of +10' I was reusing Astar for this. Basically for a point X i was running Astart against all the other points to see if there was a path so they are on the area. Now I use Recursive Depth-First Search (DFS) #gamedev #roguelite #solodev #indietech

I'll change the way I'm facing this problem of creating a maze. Trying to fit a geometric figure into a procedurally generated world feels weird. Instead what I'll do is identify the larger areas between tunnels and maze one of the areas (not hexagonal)

Changed the procedural generation to make the caves more "spaghetti-like" which looks amazing IMO (200 tiles radius) Now I have to intersect this with another Noise that would make blobs of land in hope to at the end have rooms joined by tunnels #gamedev #roguelite #solodev #indietech #roguelite

I've not posted this week as I had too much IRL work. But I did advance a lot: * Lectern class selector * Models for the selected class * All 3 Classes attacks and animations After this now is time for the puzzles/challenges. I have 10 already in mind #gamedev #solodev #indiedev

So I have the 3 main Classes attacks working and you can switch between them on the Hub. Now I have to make the mobs use also the classes and new attacks. Once all that is done I'll start adding the first puzzles on to the levels. #gamedev #solodev #indiedev

Doing all this combat mocks made me think that I may change the naming of 'Combat Style' to the more common 'Classes' so I can have more. My head was going full on on potentially having: Necromancer, Rogue, Paladin and others. But for now only 3 😂 #gamedev #solodev #indiedev

So the name I've decide is HEXSTRIDE!🥳 Combination: * Hex: The Hexagonal grid of the game * Stride: Advancing/Movement the main mechanic of the combat (and puzzles) that makes it different will be the movement. Movement and positioning will be crucial in it. WDYT? #gamedev #solodev

I was thinking that I may test another way of mob combat. The player will also have 3 combat styles to choose but they work differently from the mob ones. I may unify those and make the mobs work as the player, it would make for a more immersive gameplay 🤔 WDYT? #gamedev
