Cutting SNAP is like stealing candy from a baby (metaphorically!). But in all seriousness, for the FIRST TIME in the program's history, these cuts will shift cost to the states, and some kids are going to lose access to a critical life improving benefit.

It is June 26. The budget has to be passed in 4 days. We've been told the budget deal is done but the bill "won't be ready until very late tonight" and the vote likely won't happen until tomorrow. The public likely won't have a chance to see the budget bill before it's voted out of committee.

Unfortunately, the Big Bad Bill isn't just big and bad where essential programs are concerned -- it's also got a lot of gnarly provisions as to rights and legal processes buried in there.
