Today, some 46,000 Palestine refugee children will be started the school year in @unrwa.org schools across the #WestBank. Amid heightened violence and displacement, our schools provide safe havens for children to learn, delivering both quality education and support for their wellbeing.

Thousands of #PalestineRefugees from #Gaza – labourers and medical patients with their accompanying family members – remain stranded in the #WestBank since October 2023, unable to return to their homes and without a regular source of income.

It is with heavy hearts that we mourn the loss of two members of the Palestine refugee community of Umm al Kheir in the #SouthHebron Hills in the #WestBank yesterday. A third community member was seriously injured during the same incident.

This week, approximately 8,600 boys and girls have been participating in summer camps at 48 @unrwa.org schools across the #WestBank. At a time when the West Bank is witnessing heightened violence and heavy movement restrictions, there are very few safe spaces for children to play and learn.

Early on Friday morning, a new uncertainty descended on the Middle East. In the most dangerous escalation in years, the capabilities at play give rise to potentially fateful scenarios. In just four days, hundreds of lives have been lost – with no imminent end in sight.

For the past months, the northern #WestBank has witnessed an uninterrupted stream of mass demolitions by Israeli Security Forces, and orders trying to justify them. @unrwa.org has called repeatedly for these demolitions to stop, and for #PalestineRefugees to be allowed to return home.

Every year, we celebrate the end of the scholastic year at the @unrwa.org Ramallah Women’s Training Centre, showcasing the academic and vocational achievements of our students. It is a day filled with pride and excitement.

This morning, armed Israeli Security Forces entered the @unrwa.org schools in Shu’fat Camp, to enforce the closure orders issued on 8 April 2025. They harassed UNRWA teachers and detained one staff member, ordering them to dismiss the students.
