For those who have just left twitter/X and are afraid for their financial security as they try to rebuild, I want to share my experience as it will hopefully provide a bit of comfort. Earlier this year I ran a Kickstarter. Bsky outperformed Twitter for backers by more than 3x.

And this is WHILE my Twitter account had over 170k followers. Bsky at the time, I don't remember exactly, was in the 30k range I think. The numbers are smaller here but they go so so SO much farther when it comes to representing the ACTUAL people who want to support you.

every argument for staying on Twitter jus reads like: i could just go to another site where i can post art without being miserable and jumping thru 7000 hoops to avoid having my art stolen by grifters but also what will i do without the attention i get from the bots in the nazi bar :(???

every artist clinging to Twitter like ‘we can just post our art as gifs and it can’t be edited by AI’ when gifs don’t show up in the media tab anymore for most ppl + don’t show up in the video tab so nobody will even be able to see their art unless they’re self RTing it constantly pls just LEAVE
