Respiratory conditions including COPD, asthma and pulmonary TB are affecting thousands of people in West Ham and Beckton. Improvements to diagnosis, treatment, and support through a national plan would help the millions living with lung conditions across the UK.

Today is the International Day of Reflection and Commemoration of the genocide in Srebrenica. Today we remember the 8,372 Bosniak Muslim men and boys were killed in July 1995. It is our duty to remember those who lost their lives and honour the survivors.

I will continue to work with organisations like Port of London Authority to provide the skills and info needed to stay safe around water. These places are part of everyday life, but they can become dangerous quickly. We must do more so that no other family goes through grief like this.

As we all try to manage another heatwave I asked about the Government’s plans for tree planting. The shade from trees can reduce the temperature by up to 8 degrees. More affluent areas are much more likely to have tree coverage, something that should change.

I joined the debate on leasehold reform to raise the issues that my constituents are facing. The response I got from FirstPort is unfortunately not a one off, which is why I’m pushing for a central regulatory body for managing agents.

I joined the members of the Newham Pupil Parliament, it was really interesting to hear their thoughts on AI. It was good to see the students so engaged, pupil parliaments are a great way to practice participating in democracy and learn leadership skills.

In June, me and the team were able to help resolve issues for 523 constituents including problems in their homes, jobs, streets and schools.

My constituent told me that her family in Sudan only had enough time “to grab their flip flops and run for their lives” I asked the government to use their weight and influence to prioritise protection of the civilian population and humanitarian relief.

I’ve signed a letter calling for safe pathways for students from Gaza. Last year 113 people took up places but delays & lack of communication hindered things. We must again commit to evacuating Gazan students with a place at UK universities. They deserve to begin their studies.

Today is #ArmedForcesDay a chance to say thank you to those who are serving & who have served our Country. This week we had the forces in Parliament including the brave bomb disposal team. They still support our community when we find left-overs from the blitz that need to be safely removed.

I was recently at EMR in Silvertown, a specialist metal processing and recycling facility. Now, they have 60 sites and process all sorts of metal and electrical good including cars and are still a family run business.

I was at the University of West London with British Airline Pilots’ Association. It was a great opportunity to discuss recruitment and training in the industry. I tried a flight simulator and landed on grass at Heathrow after a couple of attempts to land at City Airport with unfortunate results…

From this Friday (25 June) until the 1st September, planning a day out as a family will be cheaper. VAT will be cut on kid’s meals in restaurants and family tickets for the cinema, theatre and for concerts and soft play centres. Making it easier to get out and about and enjoy the Summer.

Today is Windrush Day when we pay tribute to the Windrush generation and all they did for our country and for our community in West Ham & Beckton. Our friends, colleagues, neighbours and families who come from that generation have made modern East London what it is.

Me and the team cannot affect timelines with doctor’s appointments or surgery dates but in this case we were able to pass on this constituent’s experience and concerns and get them a response from NHS services. I wish them all the best for their surgery and recovery.

Yesterday was the Charity Boat Race in the Royal Docks. We are really lucky that in Newham we have the facilities for an event like this. Congratulations to all the teams and well done to everyone for raising money for a good cause!

Always great to join Royal Falcons FC for their presentation day to celebrate the success of the kids & dedication of Steve & Angela and the coaches. Grassroots sport is important in Newham and we’ve got talented youngsters. Clubs like this are an important to why we produce so many great players.

Today we went to see the new heritage centre and archives store based in a building that’s played a big part in our local history. It will have facilities for local people and historians and for events. Looking forward to seeing the finishing touches and for it open next year.

I joined the celebrations at Custom House Baptist Church this weekend for the official re-opening after 2 years of refurbishment. The newly expanded building looks fantastic and provides a great facilities for the local community. A great new chapter in their 111 year history!

Yesterday, I was at the Queen Victoria Seamen’s Rest for the unveiling of the blue plaque for Kamal Chunchie. This is a long awaited memorial to Kamal Chunchie, a pioneering campaigner and preacher on a building that continues his work to provide shelter and support to all who need it.

I met with London Sport to hear about their plans in West Ham and Beckton. They are investing in Newham where we have a fast growing population and interest in sport. They’re keen to work with local people, sports and community groups to identify the need and demand here.

Words of condemnation have so far done little to deter ongoing violations. We must now act to pressure Israeli authorities to adhere by the terms of the October ceasefire, protect international law, increase aid and humanitarian assistance to Palestinian civilians, and uphold accountability.

Twice a year #comiccon comes to the Royal Docks filling the Excel and the surrounding area with some fantastic costumes. It’s the hottest day of the year and it took some commitment and stamina to wear some of the costumes but everyone was upbeat and having fun. #comicconlondon #mcmcomiccon
