The govt is providing a further £10m to protect mosques and faith centres. It is welcome - but desperately sad as British Muslims have faced increasing violence and intimidation. Islamophobia must be robustly challenged, and we need a standard definition of anti-Muslim racism.

We are horrified to learn of the attack at a synagogue in Manchester, especially on Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims, their families, and the wider Jewish community who will understandably be feeling deeply concerned during this time.
