I didn’t manage to get any proofs printed today, but I’m happy with the progress made. It’s the first of two Harvest Festival services tomorrow, so I get to enjoy the delights of Parracombe church, and I might just get a couple of prints done beforehand. #printmaking #architecture

I took a wander out to Loxhore church yesterday, across the estate and through the fields made by my ancestors. Standing sentinel, a marker of the old boundary between Quarry Close and Easter Deer Park, is our youngest son Wilfred’s favourite tree.

Arlington St James. This building has been a constant in my life for the last eight years. Almost daily I’ve passed by it, have heard the sounds of its bells drifting in the air, have stood in its shadow. Generations of my ancestors are buried in its grounds. It is a part of me. #art #architecture

A little wander around the church of St Mary the Virgin in Pilton this afternoon. Another place thick with the memories of distant ancestors. Walking in the sunken alley between the almshouses and church one could be forgiven for thinking time had stopped for a few hundred years.

It was both a privilege and incredibly sobering to read the document that took the common lands from my ancestors. It is remarkable to think that the hedges my 8x Great Grandfather was ordered to ‘make maintaine and keepe’ still shape the landscape I know so well.

The autumn light and veil of mist clinging to the land was beautiful this morning as I made my way back home from the school run.

Of all the wonderful vistas and architectural delights at Stourhead, the thing that brought me most joy (partly due to it being a surprise) was seeing this John Piper up close. I couldn’t get a decent photograph owing to the light, but here it is from the @nationaltrust.org.uk archive (NT 731085).

We had a family day out to see the first flushes of autumn colour at Stourhead and were treated to the most lovely weather.

The last couple of weeks have been fairly productive, and I’m looking forward to sharing the results over the next few weeks. I’ll be having a revamp of my website to reflect my new work soon, too. #art #linocut #watercolour
